FERRATA is a furniture collection inspired by via ferrata climbing routes. Designed by Jonas Van Put and Dorien Eeckhout, both enthusiastic mountaineers, the series is a tribute to the utilitarian elegance of the rough, U-shaped rebar that anchors climbers to steep rock faces. Via ferrata routes were first developed during wartime in the Italian Alps to enable army troops to cross treacherous mountain passes. The rebar rods, now often hot-dip galvanized for durability, are characterized by their rough texture that improves adhesion in the rock and provides a reliable grip for hands and feet in challenging weather conditions.
All analog images are taken by Zeger Dox. He captured the objects on film with the quarry and the climbing massif of Landelies as an impressive backdrop. Set dressing by Kato Trappers - 2025
